It is very important to use the proper payment system to ensure timely, accurate posting of your payment.
To make a payment on a billing
( Bill for Taxes Due | Final Bill for Taxes Due | Michigan Accounts Receivable Collection System bill)
issued by the Michigan Department of Treasury Office of Collections, use Collections e-Service

e-Payments Can Be Made For The Following:

  • Michigan Individual Income Tax Return MI-1040 (current tax year only)
    Select the payment type 2017 MI-1040 for the following type of payments:
    • Payment for tax due on the 2017 MI-1040
    • Payment in response to a 2017 Proposed Tax Due letter sent to you by the Michigan Department of Treasury
  • Michigan Estimated Income Tax for Individuals MI-1040ES
    Select the payment type 2018 Estimate
    • Estimate payments will apply to the quarter in which they are received. Any payment received after the due date will apply to the following quarter.
      2018 Quarterly Estimate due dates:
      • 1st Quarter April 17, 2018
      • 2nd Quarter June 15, 2018
      • 3rd Quarter September 17, 2018
      • 4th Quarter January 15, 2019
  • Michigan Individual Income Tax Extension
    Select the payment type 2017 Extension
    • An extension of time to file is not an extension of time to pay
    • Late filing penalty and interest will accrue on the unpaid tax from the original due date of the return

e-Payment Options

eCheck Requirements:

  • To use this option you must have previously filed a 2016 Michigan Individual Income Tax Return
  • Your current address must be the same as previously filed in 2016
There is no fee to use this payment option. By selecting "Make an eCheck Payment" you will be initiating an Automated Clearing House (ACH) payment. This authorizes the Michigan Department of Treasury to initiate a direct transfer of funds from your financial institution.

If you do not meet the above requirements, your options are to choose a Debit/Credit card e-Payment below or mail a payment to the appropriate address on your return or voucher.

 

Debit or Credit Card Payments

All Michigan Individual Income Tax filers may choose to make a payment using a debit or credit card. Debit card payments will be charged a flat fee of $3.95. Credit card payments will be assessed a convenience fee of 2.35% of the total payment amount. The fee will appear as a separate transaction on your bank or card statement and is paid directly to the payment processing company.
