Do not use this e-Payments service to make a payment for your Michigan Income Tax Return.

The following electronic payments may be made for the City of Detroit

Estimated Payment
- Making a quarterly payment for the current tax year only
Annual Return Payment
- Paying the balance due on your annual return
Proposed Tax Due Payment
- Paying the balance due prior to receiving an Intent to Assess Letter
10-Day Demand Payment
- Paying the balance due on a 10-Day Demand Letter
Assessment Payment
- Paying the balance due on an Intent to Assess or Final Assessment Letter
Audit Payment
- Paying the balance due from an audit determination

e-Payment Options

eCheck (Free):

This option requires verification using your State of Michigan income tax return. For example: if making a payment in 2023, use information from your 2021 tax return that was filed in 2022 to authenticate.
By selecting this payment method, you will be initiating an Automated Clearing House (ACH) payment. This authorizes the Michigan Department of Treasury to initiate a direct transfer of funds from your financial institution. All eCheck payments must be initiated using an account at a US financial institution.

If you do not meet the above requirements, your options are to choose a Debit/Credit card e-Payment below or mail a payment to the appropriate address on your return or voucher.

Debit or Credit Card Payments

All City Income Tax filers may choose to make a payment using a debit or credit card.

Debit card payments will be charged a flat fee of $3.95.
Credit Card payments will be assessed a convenience fee of 2.30% of the total payment amount.
The fee will appear as a separate transaction on your bank or card statement and is paid directly to the payment processing company.
